Hi All,

I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Mandrake and during the process, the Oracle Installer suddenly crashes.

Any ideas as to what is happening or how I could log what is going on so I can at least have a lead.

Hi Koroush,
I've seen the Oracle Installer crash if Java isn't set up correctly. Read the documentation Oracle provide to ensure you have the correct Java setup.

You should be able to find some information in the logs in $ORACLE_BASE/oraInventory/logs

You also may want to try a newer version of Oracle.  8.1.7 will be completely desupported by the end of the year.
