Forum OpenACS Development: I want to get started...

I want to do the following:

- download latest OACS drop

- read and verify the installation instructions

- load the data model and perform any other install steps

- start to look at porting an application module

I cannot find the links that explain this. I looked in SDM as well as
the downloads page. Also, I have downloaded a version of the CVS tool.

2: Must an OACS 4.X install be an upgrade from OACS 3.X (response to 1)

I found where I can get some packages from the deprecated file-storage place. The isntall instructions out here talk about an OACS upgrade. Is this (OACS 3.x install) a required step?

It explains how to check out the latest OpenACS 4 source. OpenACS 4 is not finished yet though. You can download OpenACS 3.2.5 [2].

Also read the porting wimpypoint presentation [3] before attempting to work on OpenACS 4. It has a lot of valuable information.

Thanks for this info. It looks like just what I need. I am working on getting my machine environment setup for this testing.
