This issue was raised in previous threads and may be summarized like this:

- Will it be possible to detach LORS from file storage in the future so that LORS folders do not show up in the file storage view ?

Currently, there are a few workarounds to prevent LORS folders to show up in the file storage: create a subgroup in the class, share a course from a different class... However this requires playing with the permissions: read access should be granted to the class members for LORS management (but not for LORS files). Also in LORS 0.4 the menu in LORS delivery is built based on the permissions assigned to the resources, ie if the resources don't have a read privilege they are not shown in the menu: the query handling this should be modified so that the previous workaround works...

We (Ernie, Michele and myself) have been discussing about the possible solutions:

1) LORS interfacing directly the content repository and not the file storage? however Ernie says that "we get all the perks from FS: webdav support, versioning, permissions, etc.".

2) defining a new privilege to distinguish 'read' and 'view' access to file storage: this would require changes in FS...

3) use a specific folder in FS (eg root) for LORS without having to display it to the users...

4) giving the user the option to select the folder when the course is added?

5) ...when the LORS applet is added to the class?

Any other ideas?
