We have an opening for a Senior Developer - this is pretty much a
dream job for anybody who loves being personally involved in the
full life cycle of web application development. Volunteer Solutions, a project of United Way of America, is
originally based on a very early version of ACS (circa Jan 2000) but
you will find many architectural similarities to openACS. You'll have
a lot of freedom and enormous influence in how work is done, you'll
see immediate results of your effort, and you'll get to work with a
really good, and small, team.
Please email me at mbryzek@volunteersolutions.org for the full job
description or more information.
Summary:
Volunteer Solutions provides a market-leading ASP product to Volunteer
Centers, United Ways and Corporations focused on volunteer matching
and management online. Volunteer Centers use the technology to manage
their organizations, volunteer opportunities, board positions,
volunteers, events, etc. through the web. Corporations use Volunteer
Solutions to manage all their workplace volunteer activities (events,
hours tracking, etc.).
We have an exciting opening for a Senior Developer at United Way of
America for a strong programmer, preferably with ACS experience. We
are looking for a strong, individual contributor that wants to impact
community through web technology. The Senior Developer will wear
countless hats, being responsible for system architecture, design,
implementation, testing, and deployment of new features, performance
analysis and optimization, support, and capacity planning.
Volunteer Solutions is built on Oracle 10g, PL/SQL, and AOLServer
running on RedHat Linux servers. Java is used to implement certain
components. Candidates familiar with OpenACS will find many
architectural similarities. The future of Volunteer Solutions includes
a strong emphasis on web services and greater integration between
other web applications at United eWay on a .NET + SQLServer platform.
Position is based in New York City. Remote candidates are welcome to
apply.
