What is the PostgreSQL equivalent to Oracle's number datatype?

"numeric".  Oracle supports it, too, because it is the SQL92 standard name.  I don't know why aD doesn't use the standard name.

Hmmm...another one for the porting guide, I guess.  The query extractor could handle this for both Oracle and Postgres, but I don't have time at the moment to put it in.
