I looked briefly at the source code for AOLserver 3.4 and I don't see how it can be made to handle Japanese or other multibyte character sets. Or even non ISO-8859-1 character sets. I didn't see where the
calls to the encoding conversion routines are.

Probably Rob Mayoff would be understand how this might work. But I am worried that using AOLserver3.4 would mean that only western
european languages could be supported.
