Forum OpenACS Q&A: Response to Open Source and business thoughts

Janine,

I haven't vetoed any contributions to openacs.org to date. If
someone wants to contribute content, I'd love to put it up on
openacs.org! I continue to coordinate the site because I spend
most of my time evangelizing OpenACS and I believe I still have
quite a bit to contribute in that domain. However, I do *not* want
to control/edit all of the content.

I do not intend to be a bottleneck for this community, and I hope
most people realize that I've stepped out of the way of decisions
as soon as I needlessly slowed things down. Note the fact that
Don and Dan are managing the 4.x release much more than I.
Note that Roberto managed the 3.2.5 release. I'm in talks with
Mat Kovach who wants to take over uptime.openacs.org, and I'm
more than happy to hand that over to him. If someone wants to
set up an OpenACS demo site, I'd love to point
demo.openacs.org to it.

I don't think anyone in this community is crazy or out of line. I *
am* worried that, for some reason, there's a lot of talk going on
as if action weren't possible. Go ahead and act! Build
documentation. Put up a demo site. Do a Zope/OpenACS
comparison if you've experienced both products. I will happily
post them on openacs.org!

(some people have been asking me about the new forums. I'm
waiting for the polls to stabilize out to see what everyone thinks.
The non-tech forum is looking extremely likely, while the web/db
forum is significantly more controversial).
