Should procs that do nothing with the database also be converted to
ad_procs? We'd lose in performance, but would gain in documentation.

I suspect the loss in performance would be marginal compared to the gain in developer understanding of the system.  And one hour of saved programmer time buys a stick of RAM or 50 - 100 MHz of CPU anyway.

So is the "-public" (or -private) flag required for ad_proc's?
