Forum OpenACS Q&A: Personas for OpenACS.org

Hey guys,

In order to develop and redesign OpenACS.org, I've written a number of Personas that will help define the target audience for the site. I have used Lars Pinds' awesome work (http://developer.arsdigita.com/acs-java/user-centered/) and the book The Inmates are Running the Asylum (which was lent to me by Patrick Colgan, who I guess found out about it from Lars' site.). This document will be revised as comments come in, as we figure out more precisely who the target audience is and when I finish the book.

I've used composite models of members from the OpenACS community, some of the clients that I've either gained or lost and other places that I've met freaks. Much of this is also my "vivid" imagination that has gotten me into trouble more than once. If it gets into trouble here then I guess it's what I deserve. Also, I haven't a spell check.

I also used the great marketing discussion Nathan Bogo started for ideas.

You can find the document here (https://openacs.org/new-file-storage/one-file?file_id=160). You will also find this post is the introduction to the document because I'm too lazy to write some original.

Please comment! I think this will also help with the marketing discussion.

For some reason, whenever I try to link to a URL in the file storage module the link doesn't work. Here is the link directly to the article: https://openacs.org/new-file-storage/download/Personas.html?version_id=256 Hope it works. talli

You typed "file-id" rather than "file_id". A common problem given that the filename convention in the ACS is to use "-" while everywhere else "_" is used. That's always bugged me, it's a big source of typos, at least for me.

Here's the correct link.
