Forum OpenACS Q&A: Fatal Error: Cannot Successfully map soname postgres.so

I am setting up OpenACS 3.2.5 on development system running IRIX 6.5, and I cannot get the Postgres driver to work.

This IRIX system has Postgres 7.0.2 installed on it, and because it does not have a native c compiler, I am being forced to use the IRIX binary of AOLserver 3.4 available at aolserver.com.

I compiled the Postgres 2.0.0 driver using gcc and the AOLserver 3.4 source, but I keep getting this error when starting AOLserver:

[24/Jul/2001:15:13:15][6406.6406][-main-] Notice: modload:
loading '/usr/local/aolserver/bin/postgres.so'
[24/Jul/2001:15:13:15][6406.6406][-main-] Warning: modload: failed to
load '/usr/local/aolserver/bin/postgres.so': ' 6406:bin/nsd: rld:
Fatal Error: Cannot Successfully map
soname '/usr/local/aolserver/bin/postgres.so' under any of the
filenames /usr/local/aolserver/bin/postgres.so '
[24/Jul/2001:15:13:15][6406.6406][-main-] Error: dbdrv: failed to
load driver 'postgres'
Hmmm...do you know for sure that gcc is compatible with the native compiler used to compile AOLserver 3.4?

Unless an IRIX user pops up here at openacs.org, we probably won't be able to help you much.  I'm not sure where to suggest you go looking for help, unfortunately.  Maybe an IRIX newsgroup?
