Forum OpenACS Q&A: Forums updated to support richtext widget.

Forums is now updated to support the richtext widget. This allows automatic hyperlinking of URLs, and preservation of whitespace in enhanced text format.

It should make it much easier to add entries. This will be released for openacs-5-1 when Don's performance changes are done. It is available on the openacs-5-1 branch right now.

Does this mean that HTMLarea works as well, if we enable HTMLarea (which might not be wise due to problems with Safari) ?

If yes, I might just write a proc that detects for each richtext widget if the Browser is Safari and disable HTMLarea in that case, what do you think ?

To reply to my own question, yes, HTMLarea works as well and Dave and Don rock :).

Is there any other reason not to use HTMLarea on openacs.org besides the fact that Safari does not display it ?

And did you test if spellchecking would work with richtext widget?

If you can either make Safari support work, or make it switch off when Safari is used, that would be acceptable for me as a Safari user.
