David: My understanding of OpenCYC is that it is highly
language-dependent. There are differences between languages
that can not be solved by simple transliteration or machine
translation. That said, there is no reason why the corpus could
not be translated ... it'd just be very time consuming. Good point
to follow up with, though.
The license issue is a little different, I think, in the sense that
what the project would do would be to provide, in essence, a
"driver" (API) for OpenCYC. All of the code would be (an optional)
part of the OpenACS distribution and would be covered by the
OpenACS license. People wishing to implement a project would
have to secure a copy of OpenCYC separately. OpenACS would
come with installation guidelines.
Michael: By all means lets put together some uses cases and
do some wireframes. Where would you like to start?
