Forum OpenACS Development: Packages without DB support ?

Collapse

I stumbled over the problem that I can select packages for
installation which have no support for the database I'm running. Is
there intention behind this and if yes, could you add an image after
the package name, indicating that it is not supported by my database?
And if this question has been asked already, blame it on my search
capabilities...

Hmmm...how recent is your copy of the APM?  I've added the restrictions some time ago.

On the other hand, most of the packages in the CVS tree have .info files which declare that they will support both PG and Oracle.  I did this in the optimistic hope that they'd all get ported.  For my "pre-alpha snapshot" I hand-edited .info files to reflect reality at the time of the snapshot but didn't update the tree because some of the packages were (are) being actively worked on, but just weren't ready.  Knocking out the DB support in the .info file in the development tree makes it difficult to work with the package while porting...

Old aD 4.x packages should only be loadable by Oracle, I *think* I've got that working correctly...I have to admit that I've not spent a lot of time testing this, though.
