It's that time of year again---time to start thinking about whether/if/how the OpenACS community should participate in Google Summer of Code.
Google has recently announced that they will run the program again this summer. Specific dates have not yet been picked, but using previous years as a gauge, our application to be a mentoring organization will be due around the end of February.
Google has mentioned that they will be scaling the program back some this year. That being the case, my feeling is that we'd be better off coordinating with the Tcl group like last summer, rather than trying to go our own way. But we should discuss it and reach a consensus.
