Forum OpenACS Development: Postgresql 8 - ready for prime time?

I can see that PG 8 is listed as compatible with v 5.2 (but not 5.1!) at https://openacs.org/doc/current/individual-programs.html

I am a little reluctant to be an "early adopter". I am even more reluctant to be a "first adopter" (although of course someone has to be).

Does anyone know of any production installation using PG8? Or what kind of testing has been done to establish the compatibility? Finally, if someone with good knowledge of the postgres driver (you know who you are) could tell whether this upgrade is "risky" from that perspective, I would be grateful.

Please bear in mind, I am asking for production experiences, or results from at least semi-rigorous testing.

What I read on pgsql-performance and hackers makes me
pretty confident that 8.0 is as stable as 7.4. Keep in
mind that until pretty recently 8.0 was 7.5 and
given the track record of the last releases (7.3.x 7.4.x)
I would say 8.0.1 is as stable as the 7.4 series and I
seriously doubt there will be any major performance
surprises relative to OpenACS.

You are probably not going to get a lot of feedback from
people running it in production here since 5.1.x won't
work on it (small incompatibilities mostly and easily fixable if someone took the time). If you want to hear about
production users I would ask on one of the pg lists.
