I am with Andrew in that I don't really see what would drive a
"brutal industry consolidation" (not to mention I don't see
any mechanism for making it brutal given how most
developers are associated with projects to begin with).
Maybe if by brutal you mean that there is tremendous opportunity for growth in open source which some projects
will miss out on because they don't make the right collective
decisions about how to manage themselves then maybe I
would agree.
I would be interested in hearing what form you think OpenACS involvement in .LRN would take. It's not entirely clear to
me what "participating fully in the .LRN consortium" would mean for me as an OpenACS participant and as someone selling
consulting and hosting services for OpenACS.
