can the operation of <listtemplate> be customized ?
where is the tag actually defined ?

Look in the acs-templating docs. /doc/acs-templating I think.

I did, but I haven't been able to find any mention of listtemplate, only formtemplate.
Still, DaveB helped me to do what I wanted without listbuilder, so this is not an issue for me anymore.
