Hi guys, I was wodering if someone has experience to save and restore MS-Excel/MS-Word files into/from Postgres. I know that is possible to save into db but I dont know if it is possible to restore the excel file in original form (xls) not txt. So that means is can we launch the right application (Excel..) if a client click view the Excel file? Thanks in advance

As long as you serve excel files with a ".xls" extension, you will only need to add
  • ns_param ".xls" "application/msexcel"

    • or
  • ns_param ".xls" "application/vnd.ms-excel"
to the ns_section "ns/mimetypes" in your nsd configuration file.

If you are using OACS 4 you can try using the Content Repository's file system based storage.  Basically the db only has the filename entry and the file in the (acsroot)/content-repository-content-files.
