The OpenFTS project is glad to announce a pre-alpha release of
OpenFTS-PERL v.0.33. Currently, it is only available from CVS. Dan
Wickstrom is going to port the new version to TCL. I suggest you pay a
visit to
http://openfts.sourceforge.net
and subscribe to our new
mailing
list.
From now on, OpenFTS is based on
tsearch
-- a recently released contrib module for PostgreSQL.
For those of you who never heart of OpenFTS before: OpenFTS is a
PostgreSQL-based full text search engine that provides advanced
features such as online indexing of data, relevance ranking, proximity
ranking, multilingual support and stemming. Eventhough, the OpenACS
architecture support multiple search engines, it seems that most
PostgreSQL users are satisfied with OpenFTS.
I know that some of you are using OpenFTS for your personal
or company projects and some of you plan to use it with the upcoming
OpenACS beta. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to
contribute code, success stories
and/or feedback.
