Definitely need to hook up with Jim. I was talking to him on IRC the other day about an accounting package he is preparing to write. He plans to build the data model layer and it is intended that this model will wupport a proper set of ledgers. It would be great to make sure that the higher layers that you propose build on his model.
I made some suggestions to him about 4 or 5 days ago on IRC which you will find in the irc logs.
