I agree completely with your post. I, too, think meetings are necessary
and don't believe IRC is a blocker for people attending meetings.
I also agree about getting the IRC logger back.
Perhaps having a logger along with the twiki Dave mentioned will help keep people more in tune to what is going on, what is being discussed at the meetings.
