I just posted a tip in the blog that informs you on how to use Tiger's Launchd system to start up postmaster when you boot your mac. I think StartupItems have been deprecated in Tiger, or that they are now being used for something else.

Could someone please modify the postgresql installation documentation to include this please?

I also added a follow up post on how to create a Launchd item for OpenACS/AolServer. So really there is no need for the daemontools setup on Tiger. So hopefully it won't be long till linux distros start supporting Launchd.
