Forum OpenACS Q&A: news package install

Hi, I have a working OpenACS 4 installation on FreeBSD using Postgres. I recently tried to add the News module as well Events and Datetime because they were dependencies. When I try to go to news I get this:
invalid command name "news_util_get_url"
    while executing
"news_util_get_url search"
    invoked from within
"set search_url [news_util_get_url search]"
    ("uplevel" body line 46)
    invoked from within
"uplevel {
    	  # /packages/news/www/index.tcl
I'm interested in why as well as a solution. TIA

Did you remember to restart your server after installing and mounting the news package?

Well Don,

Yes. . . but I can't verify it worked. You see, It's a hosted site, and I restart the server by sudo and then a script. I watch the typical Aolserver messages reading .tcl files go by, but I have had weirdness with this script before. I'll ask the server admin to do a hard start.

Getting Closer. . .

Now, trying to create a news item and receive this error.

invalid command name "dt_widget_datetime"
    while executing
"dt_widget_datetime -default now publish_date days"
    invoked from within
"set publish_date_select [dt_widget_datetime -default now publish_date days]"
    ("uplevel" body line 42)
    invoked from within
"uplevel {
    	  # /packages/news/www/item-create.tcl

Datetime is installed. Anyone know what is up.

This is exactly what happens when you don't restart the server.  You need to restart it.

Good luck...

I'm getting the same thing with v4.6 in the news/item-create module.

This is on a new linux box. Fresh copy of everything. Rebooted server between individual modules. I continue to get errors:
