I read this very informative tutorial

This is very helpful in that many would like to keep in sync with openacs cvs as much as possible while still being able to do their own development stuff like tagging and committing their own changes in arch.
I would like to do a quick survey and get opinions and suggestions about this approach.
Is using the arch/cvs gateway common in the community right now ?
What road blocks have been encountered ?
Is it secure ?
The above article uses Arch but are people also open to using (or are actually using ) alternative version control systems that can work in tandem with CVS like maybe darc and subversion.
