The ideal candidates would be places that could really be
improved, not just re-coded. For example site node resolution.
I nearly forgot: The new request monitor is itself a significant contribution, particularly in light of the fact that the old monitoring.tcl page which you really can't use on medium and high traffic servers. Right now this is the only real option.
