I have just tried creating some new 2048 bit RSA kets for nsopenssl in aolserver ad33.13 but the server hangs (stops in its tracks) at the point where the keyfile.pem is being loaded. The hang is fatal in that the server process can only then be terminated by a kill -9 pid. It just ignores all other signals.

Is there a maximum keyfile size (i.e. 1024) that I can't find in the docs or have I messed up when creating the keyfile?

Which version of nsopenssl are you using?

I seem to recall that the latest version requires AOLserver 4.

For AOLserver 3 I'm pretty sure you need to use nsopenssl 2.1a.
