xinha is not the "perfect" solution, since it is a little slow on displaying. It is not only the number of options that cause this. however, xinha is functionally quite good and has many of the problems removed that existed as well in the lastest revisions of htmlarea (e.g. focus problems in tables). xinha has a good plug-in model and produces resonable code. we have developed such an image selection-plugin for learn@wu to choose images from certain folders. when i find the time, i will clean it up and make it available...
For now i will make a simple hack to make xinha coexisting/easy switchable with rte and check this into 5.2 if nobody objects.
