Forum OpenACS Q&A: Migration of OpenACS.org to OpenACS 4.5

Roberto Mello and I are starting to migrate the openacs.org site over
to OpenACS 4.5.

So far we have migrated the users and the seperate bboards, but the
bboard messages are not yet converted over.

After this I am going to start working on templates and recreating the
rest of the openacs.org site as much as possible.

It would be helpful if we had a list of things that currently exist on
this site that are absolutely necessary and which might be optional.

Also if anyone can help let us know.

"...list of things that ... are absolutely necessary..."

AS IF you didn't know this..., the forums with all the messages. This is the *best* resource on the site.

"...but the bboard messages are not yet converted over."

It would be nice to know how you do the conversion from 3.x to 4.5 as I am sure others and myself will *eventually* convert to 4.5. It will be great to see openacs.org running on 4.5 so one can get a good sense of the newer version and have it create the desire to convert.

    • /sites.html
    • /companies.adp
    • /contribute/*
    • /philosophy/* (Why Not MySQL!)
    • /software.adp

  • modules:
    • FAQ
    • SDM
    • /wp
    • /new-file-storage
    • /static-pages
    • readers comments (general-comments only?)

    Optional stuff:

  • pages:

Go!!! Dave and Roberto.

Sorry Dave and RBM only can do cheering now.  I guess CCM's complexity is sure doing a great job making me do nothing else much.  code... compile... deploy... code... compile... deploy.... code... compile... deploy.... ooppps running out of RAM better close the browser.  Nice piece of code... but it sure is painful.
