Systems Administrator
Overall Purpose:
To construct (new) solutions for specific problems/requirements in the
Greenpeace network, supports staff world wide in the usage of the network
facilities, and assists in the technical management of a Unix-based
Intranet.
Activities:
Technical
- Develops suitable applications of the Internet connected system
for both
administrative and campaign purposes;
- Assists the International Information Technology team to maintain
the internal
network servers and routers;
- Assists the national Information Technology support staff in
configuring and
maintaining their LAN servers and workstations for the Intranet
network;
- Assists in maintaining software upgrades, system statistics,
operational
enhancements of the Intranet servers, both at the main network nodes
as well as
the remotely located national servers;
Communication
- Is available for all Greenpeace staff for on-line helpdesk
assistance with
Intranet based applications;
- Keeps in touch with Campaigns and participates directly;
Administration
- As part of the Greenlink Hotline Support Team, maintains
Greenlink-3 accounts
and lists, designing procedures for the opening and closing of
accounts and
agreeing clear responsibilities for the implementation of those
procedures;
- Provides occasional weekend and out of hours network support for
campaigns and
mission critical operations.
Skills/qualifications required:
- Qualifications in computer applications, especially in various
operating
systems and network protocols
- Experience in network administration
- Experience in developing applications
- experience in working with Unix and TCP/IP, Intranet servers and
Internet-related applications
- Fluency in written and spoken English, preferably fluent in other
modern languages
- Communication skills
- Teamplayer
