What format are you using for people? I have a package using the HR-XML standards for both people and addresses and was going to split that out (it was a client project). It maps to all known standards and is pretty lightweight, of course I had no need for geospatial data so it doesn't directly support that.
Maybe we should combine our efforts? My stuff works on both Oracle and PG as it was originally written for ACS classic and has since been ported.
I don't see a need for two similar packages and a combined acs-person would be a great start at getting rid of the junky core person stuff.
