Has any one ported used the LDAP-authentication package? or

I am looking at how to integrate OACS to the University system. I
thought this might be interesting for others. One possibility is
password file based (see previous thread) another is WASM:
Web Authentication and Session Manager". I know nothing about
this but there is a bit more info in:

We are also interested in the option of having external authentication sources for OpenACS.

Important is the following:

  1. Modularity (being able to plug in different sources of authentication)
  2. Having a fallback mechanism (e.g. if user password not in LDAP, use standard OACS authentication, if user password/key not in OACS ask users mother, etc.)

This is why it would be interesting to have a general pluggable authentication API for OACS... I have not looked at it yet but I think this is something that has been addressed by by the Open Knowledge Initiative (http://web.mit.edu/oki/ )
