i see as well no immanent problem with mixin GPL and BSD-licenced code. As Andrew pointed out, the disadvantage for me could be that if someone creates a derivative work of such BSD-style packages and places these under GPL, i could not continue with this work and release it later under a BSD style license. I can live with that asymmetry. Furthermore, there is no inherent need to release a derivative work of a BSD-style package under GPL. Btw, there is an easy readable artical about derivate works in:
