I guess i already answered my question.
what i need to do is exaclty what you have written, but we should change the order on the docs:
instead of:
cd /var/lib/aolserver
tar xzf /tmp/openacs-5.1.5.tar.gz
i have:
tar xzf /tmp/openacs-5.1.5.tar.gz
cd /var/lib/aolserver
