I had to move the init script from:

/etc/rc2.d/S20dotlrn-2-1

to:

/etc/rc2.d/S30dotlrn-2-1

This was to give postgres a chance to startup before dotlrn. Postgres was installed as:

/etc/rc2.d/S20postgresql
