Hi,

I am building a development server with the following installed
FreeBSD 6
AOLServer 4.0.10
PostgreSQL 8.1
OpenACS 5.2.2

Has anyone any experience in building this sort of configuration? of knows whether this is viable?
Or knows of an up to date source of info?

Regards
John

Hi John,

I use Hub.org for my OpenACS server. They run on FreeBSD 4.11. I'm running;
AOLServer 4.0.10
PostgreSQL 7.4.3
OpenACS 5.2.2

You will run into problems with Postgres 8.1 - I've used 8.0.1 fine before.

Cheers
Matthew

Thanks Matthew,

It was at the Postgres stage that I was having problems. I actually backed out and tried installing on CENTOS (A Red Hat Enterprise clone). This brought a whole other set of problems. That was possibly because of my unfamiliarity with that environment. However, I really missed the FreeBSD ports tree too much.

I'll try an earlier version of Postgres on FreeBSD tonight

Regards
John

check this link for an freebsd 6.0 ports installer. it requires some manual alterations to the default shell. note the manual changes required to the default shell. please post your experiences with the process.
