It's worth pointing out that
ad_parameter does something really useful that
parameter::get does not. Namely, it lets you override package parameters in a text file. This is useful for all sorts of situations where you have multiple instances of the same project and e.g. don't want to go mucking around updating database tables each time you refresh the staging server with production data. Amidst the rampant clutter in my brian I recall
this old thread that had a lot of good ideas. I'm not sure these were ever implemented (Don?). Perhaps someone is interested. Just don't ask me how to name the new procs.
