I also just realized that I didn't fully answer the earlier question about publishing, source management, etc. dotLRN has nested group levels, so you can have a project group portal that's nested in a class portal, for example. You want students in their groups to be able to effortlessly share their groupwork with the class. In a live class, you'd simply get back together and share what you've done. In a virtual environment, though, it's a bit more involved. You need to formalize mechanisms both for arriving at consensus and for sharing. This latter piece can be thought of as publishing to the larger group, i.e., you are changing the scope on the content item (which could be a conversation, a comment, a document, etc.) to make it accessible to the larger class.
