A while ago I posted a question regarding my efforts to use IE 6's
offline browsing to download ACS pages ahead of time, so that I can
read them on my laptop when I'm dsconnected. It's at
https://openacs.org/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?
msg_id=00059V
I've tried a little more and made some progress on syncing other
sites, but still can't sync my own. Slashdot, for example, will
sync, and seems to recognize my cookie in pages downloaded ("this
page was generated for Matt Morgan by a slew of dancing monkeys").
This site (openacs.org) syncs. Mine doesn't.
I will investigate this, and maybe try some other ACS sites to see
if they all work and maybe it's just something funny about our site.
But I wanted to ask again, has anybody tried this and gotten it
working? I don't have a clue what's going on.
FYI, to get offline browsing working, for those of you who have IE
6 (probably the same in IE5.x) available, you
- make a page a favorite.
- Go to Favorites--Organize Favorites
- Select the favorite and check "make available offline."
- Click on "properties" to set up how deep you want the downloading
to go, and when you want it to happen.
Thanks again,
Matt
