One issue I would like to address is Ben's assertion that open source software communities need strong leadership. I couldn't agree more. However, the leadership that *any* community needs, whether it be software, family or local, is one that embraces a democratic process. This includes:
- Discussion and debate (even heated debate)
- Compromise and flexibility
- Resolution
Regardless of which proposal is selected, and Musea will make an official selection for the record, these principles will be critical in having a successful project.
Since this seems to inevitably be a selection of one process or the other, I would hope those that want to choose a side would consider these points, look at the body of evidence of how the parties have behaved in the community up til now and make the decision accordingly.
