Jon, as Don has pointed out, to the extent that MIT can do wthis at all, they can do it right now. They don't need an Executive Committee to do it. If anything, such a committee would get in their way.

And as you yourself have pointed out, the code is GPL. MIT could create their own Bizarro OpenACS if they wanted to, but that wouldn't make openacs.org or the people in it go away.

MIT can't steal OpenACS(even if they wanted to), and even if they could, forming a committee would not help them do it. I just don't see what it is that people are afraid of here.
