Forum OpenACS Development: OCT meeting summary (19/july/2006)

OCT meeting summary:

1- There are a bunch of message keys "lost" in translation.openacs.org, Victor will check what happen and report back.

2- Improvements to CR, check this post: https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=461759
a) Performance improvement using LOCK TABLE acs_objects IN SHARE ROW EXCLUSIVE MODE; has been reviewed and is ok to patch the CR at HEAD. (Put a message that when PG handles this correctly it should be re-tested to see whether we need lock table or not anymore).
b) Duplicate issue: works fine in 8.x series, in 7.4.x series does not work, needs a work around but has not been easy to find one, like creating function with named parameters, we find the 32 params limitation. So we decided to apply the patch, and from now on oacs only supports 8.x. series of PG. (actually the rule is that we only support the latest version and the previous one of PG, meaning 8.1.x & 8.0.x)

3- Results from last bug-stomp will be posted by Victor soon!

4- Next bug-stomp is 27-28 of july, focus to create new automated tests for acs-tcl, plus other acs-core packages, the plan is to have a bug-stomp every two weeks. (will include tests for CR scalability)

5- Follow up to the GPL-redhat issue
Response to Don's email, Redhat will:
a) hold onto the ACS trademark
b) issue a blanket "you can GPL this stuff" regarding the software
c) someone investigating making a tarball or whatever to send to us (they will not edit out the current license information from the source files)
And, in our side "someone who cares on our end will need to write a script to yank out their license stuff and put in a GPL reference"

That's all!
