Looks like V6 was released on 2004-06-09:

ftp://ftp.fifi.org/pub/ImageMagick/www/changelog.html (Search for 6.0.2)

I have 6.2.4 installed on Mac OS X (via Darwinports) and Linux Debian (testing/unstable). Version 6 is in the stable branch of Debian: http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=imagemagick&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=all
