Ok, i guess you are right, if the list is big, in the real world, there could be a real performance impact.

Yes, I fear we will have to distribute an "approved" AOLserver package from openacs.org to let people get the software they need without jumping through hoops. Hopefully we can get enough volunteer effort to commit to doing this into the future if we have to.
