Forum OpenACS Development: No packages OACS 5.3

Hi everybody!

I just installed OACS 5.2.3 and need to install Ecommerce and Bug Tracker and Project Manager asap.
OACS 5.2.3 shows many missing dependencies. I understand these might be available from CVS, but am clueless about the CVS installation process.

Using the CVS route still offers limited functionality, compared to OACS 5.3; I prefer to waste as little valuable time on messing around, being new to OACS.

If I would start from scratch and replace 5.2.3, with 5.3, will I have achieved my goal?, i.e.:

Basic OACS installation using, XOWIKI, XHINHA, Ecommerce, Bugtracker and Project Manager, without running into dependency problems.

If this scenario is not yet realistic, would you be so kind as to give best available alternative, so that I can start my development work not later than November 15th.

Many thanks,
Renny Curvers

Xowiki and Xotcl core are only officially supported on OpenACS 5.3, which is currently in alpha. The tarball downloads only include the OpenACS core packages, you can download additional packages from the package repository by visiting /acs-admin/install/ from your installation.

That reminds me that the 5.3 repository is not yet active, and I better go fix it.

I tried to install but got the next two messages using my URL http://www.infobasics.org

Message #1:
OpenACS Installation: Welcome
Thank you for installing the Open Architecture Community System (OpenACS), a suite of fully-integrated enterprise-class solutions for collaborative commerce. This is the OpenACS Installer which performs all the steps necessary to get the OpenACS Community System running on your server.

Please read the Release Notes before proceeding to better understand what is contained in this release.

Your PostgreSQL driver is correctly installed and configured.

The OpenACS data model is already installed. Click Next to scan the available packages.

Message: #2
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

The proxy server could not handle the request GET /packages-install.

Reason: Document contains no data

Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.infobasics.org Port 80

Also restarting AOL Server seems not to solve anything.

Could it be that no packages are attached to OpenACS 5.3?

Your assistance is well appreciated.

Many thanks!
