37: Response to nsjava staus (response to 1)

I have zero experience in ns_java except compiling it a long time ago.  I was supposed to post something on this thread about keeping an open mind to other technologies the other day.  Although I avoided it.

Of course I don't want that we increase our dependency with other techs.  But I am here primarily because OpenACS stack of technology works.  Not because its tcl, aolserver, etc.  Although currently this are the technology that work.

But I think if Dan's ns_java enables a developer like me to reuse or integrate other open source java application then its good.  Even though there is a tcl equivalent.  You have to admit most of jakarta's and apache-xml project have matured.  Why not just make use of xerces or xalan?

I think ns_java has a great potential for us to make use of the big investment the java community has made.  Tcl, java, aolserver, tomcat, etc. whatever... its good as long as it works.  Of course OSS is prefered.
