Forum OpenACS Q&A: Response to nsjava staus
I believe, though, that a C module, namely moififying mod_dav, is far more desireable than any of these approaches. The reason being that it seems mod_dav is more supported than any of the tools that have so far been mentioned and many other tools and client will probably be developed to use its features. An example is Subversion which depends heavily on mod_dav and mod_dav_svn. Unfortunately, a link that purportedly explains this is busted, but visit subversion.tigris.org and there should be some info somewhere.
This brings up an idea that Lars floated in passing on another thread--namely, figuring out a way to be able to tap into Apache mods directly. Is it utterly crazy to contemplate writing nsmod_? Forget about the resourcing for the moment; is it technically feasible/adviseable?
