Most likely a dumb questio,

I would like to migrate to OpenACS 4 as soon as possible, but can't
because one of TimeDesk's main services is based on ACS chat. Malte
has been working on jabber solutions, due for releaase end of 2002,
so my ultimate question.

Is there any possiblity to get a temp hack of the current chat into
OpenACS 4. I know you folks hate the system, but strangely enough it
does exatly what my members are looking for. I don't need any
modification, just the default Acs 3 chat available as module in ACS
4.

It would realy make my life a lot easier. Thanks in advance.

I haven't looked into this, but you might be able to use the Gatekeeper
package. It allows you to use legacy applications like ACS 3 under ACS 4.

Please post any thought you have on it. I haven't yet had the chance to look at
it.

Thanks Jade,

If this is the case that would be great news. At the moment I have at least 3 major projects lined up that are almost on hold because of this issue. I will dig into the gateway docs tomorrow, and will at the same time release a whitepaper on the projects I am working on, highlighting the dilemma's I am facing in this respect (3 and/or 4), that I am discussing off-list with /Bart.

Cheers
Ben
