Is anybody working on an event registration package for openacs 4.x –
similar in concept to the one on 3.x? I would like to create such a
package, but don’t want to re-invent the wheel if somebody is already
working on one, and if they are I would like to help out. if not,
i'll get started on it by myself.

I general, I have been thinking that such a package should not have a
defined set of questions to respond to like the 3.x package, but
instead should allow the creator of that event to determine which
information they want to collect from subscribers... thus it would be
much more versatile then the 3.x package, and allow for things such
as collecting information for job applictions (where a job is a
certain type of "event" you sign up/apply for)... any other
suggestions for improved functionality?

Ybos wrote an events package which is available on their developer site and something similar is apparently being developed for dotLRN. Both packages appear to be rather client specific, though. I looked into this a little while back and decided to take a shot at porting the 3.x package. If you are interested in helping, I'd be happy to send you what I have so far (data model and most admin pages are done).

Lots :)

Matthew Geddert helped out by porting what I had done to Postgresql and finishing up the registration and bulk mail code. Brad Duell has been helping out as well and is currently working on adding some e-commerce capabilities. There are a few small odds and ends that need to be finished up but it's in decent shape.

We'll try to get some kind of release out in the next few days.
