Is there a plan to set up an OpenACS package repository, like there was for ACS 4.x? It would go a long way toward solving this problem. The nice thing about the aD repository was that we could easily try out individual applications to compare them. I know we can do this with CVS, but with released packages, it would be easier to provide upgrade scripts to move from release to release, something that's a little difficult to do with a CVS checkout.
A more modularized organization would also go a long way toward getting various out-of-the-box configurations set up (ie. install OpenACS core, then install [.LRN | .WRK | .STORE | .ETC]
