mostly success (with naviserv and pg-9.5, but I'm not sure I built everything. Interestingly, the pg module built and installed fine.

Some questions, do I need any modules outside of those that come with naviserv? What's the complete list of software, packages and modules I need to support an openacs instance?

One thing I forgot to say, is I wrote some hint macros a long time ago, and used them... you can find them at: https://github.com/jwlynch/openacs-build-hints

Not sure, what you mean by "come with naviserv". If you build with [1], everything for a standard OpenACS installation is included. If you need/want more freedom, go with [2] or even [3] and combine this with your favorite version of pg, tcl, tcllib, tdom, NaviServer modules etc.

Some components that were extra on AOLserver (ssl driver, nscache, nssha, ...) are already included in base NaviServer [4].

all the best
